Carl has defended the accused in scores of Washington courts, from San Juan County to Gray's Harbor County to Cowlitz County in the west and from Kittitas County to Spokane County in the east. Over the years, Carl has defended hundreds of cases, conducted scores of trials, and has obtained favorable outcomes for the vast majority of his Clients. Carl has prosecuted and defended a wide range of civil claims during his career here in Washington. He has successfully represented those involved in cases ranging from multi-million dollar corporate disputes, to bodily injury/personal injury claims, to those involved in a variety of "miscellaneous" claims from adverse possession, to wrongful discharge. Before moving his practice to Washington, Carl Colbert was a corporate attorney. Carl began his corporate career in New York City and later practiced internationally in Hong Kong, Jakarta and Singapore. Carl still advises a variety of corporate clients in Washington with respect to corporate formation, contract drafting, review and compliance and a variety of other matters. Carl is a strong believer in the idea that proper attention to corporate formation and proper documentation of various personal and corporate interrelationships can serve to avoid needless litigation down the road, and attempts to position his corporate clients to avoid, as much as possible, litigation risk and exposure. Of course, Carl recognizes that litigation is not always avoidable, and is available to aggressively prosecute or defend his Clients' claims as they arise during the course of his corporate representation.

BIO

Carl Colbert was born in Renton, Washington. Carl attended the University of Washington where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Immediately upon graduation from the University of Washington, Carl began his law school career at the Yale Law School.
After graduation from the Yale Law School, Carl went to work for the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis at that firm’s New York City office. Carl worked in the corporate practice group where his practice was limited to venture capital, private equity and corporate finance transactions.
Carl left Kirkland & Ellis for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom International’s Singapore office in 1997 where he practiced corporate law until he left to pursue his own goals back in the United States.
Carl now accepts cases throughout Washington.
Carl has appeared on CBS's 48 Hours, CBS's 48 Hours Mysteries, CBS's 48 Hours Hard Evidence, various ID Channel programs, A & E Network's American Justice and Oxygen Network's Snapped.
